The International Bremia Evaluation Board (IBEB) has evaluated all Bremia races found in 2014 and earlier. Once again most outbreaks of Bremia were caused by new Bremia isolates with only local importance. One isolate already known from earlier years appeared to have spread more widely. IBEB decided to nominate this one new race as Bl:32. Bl:32 was found in the past few years in France, Germany, the Netherlands, UK, Austria, Switzerland , and Belgium. Recently it also spread to Portugal and North Spain. The Board emphasizes the importance of crop protection and hygiene measures in addition to the use of resistant varieties to prevent the development of new races.
