At the most companies Diamantino is in balance. The first kilo’s are of a splendid quality. At the first tests of the taste it is marked as tasty. Pruning early at 6 supported Diamantino to present its earliness also this year. Because it is powerful and quickly makes fruits, pruning at 6 fits perfectly in these growing guidelines.

The nice sunny weather conditions in March until May in Holland achieved a good production the last few weeks. It is a pity that a part of this nice product had to be thrown away due to the EHEC bacteria. Hopefully the market will recover quickly so the prices of the product will increase again. The last few weeks a truss has been harvest which had been set during hot sunny weather conditions. Due to this it was sometimes necessary to harvest a green fruit, otherwise the truss would stay too long at the plant.

The last few weeks good productions were obtained with fast maturing fruits combined with a relative high fruit weight. Due to this the plant load is over his top. We have to be alert that the crop stays generative enough, because of the high plant load last weeks, the top of the plants are somewhat thin

Diamantino is performing perfect. As expected with a good early production, good fruit quality (also with pepino) and fresh thick green parts; it’s a product with charisma! Also the reactions from the market are very positive.

Enza Zaden - Grower Tip - Dirk week 16/2011

The plants were still strengthen enough despite of increasing fruit load caused by the sunny weather conditions in March. It was important to take this into account to maintain the balance at the crop. Certainly at the crops where is kept more space at the stem distance. In general this is succeeded well and the plants have an enough generative head. The fruit weight was still rather low at the start of the season. This is normalized in the meantime and there is an average of 8 or 9 trusses of perfect quality in a box.

The first trusses of Dirk of the normal cultivation are delivered at Auxion Hoogstraten (Belgium). At plantings of beginning December the 7e truss is flowering.

Summer is almost over and the period of days with a high temperature are beyond us. Dirk performed well this summer and proved again to be a reliable variety. Due to its excellent endurance Dirk has been able to produce very good in autumn the last few years. With this grower advice we want to give guidelines to make optimal use of this.

The weather conditions in March and April were very good to grow tomatoes. Sufficient light intensity and no high temperatures yet, so the plants could be cultivated as we want to. The first week with less light intensity than the weeks before was week 18.
