Also this year Dirk has proved to be a crop with a good early production. An even so important; a good quality. Dirk is ready for the, hopefully nice, summer.
The crops we see are well balanced till a rather too strong. Some growers stopped picking a leaf at the top in June. The plant showed that we had to start doing this again.
We keep saying; Dirk needs a generative way of cultivation. Advise temperatures with this are a pre-night of 14-15 degrees, latter part of the night 17 degrees and day temperature 21 degrees. At sunny days and strong crops the day temperature must be kept at least until sunset. At less sunny days a minimum pipe temperature is advised.
The EC is kept at 3. Only with sunny weather conditions it is possible to lower the EC with 0.2 – 0.3. For the colouring of the fruits sufficient Kali is needed: 7-8 mmol/l at the slab.
Pruning has to be done at 5 fruits per truss from now on again.
