Enza Zaden wins Tuinbouw Ondernemersprijs 2012

Tuesday, 10 January, Jaap Mazereeuw, Managing Director of Enza Zaden, received the Tuinbouw Ondernemersprijs 2012 (National Horticultural Entrepreneur Award ) on behalf of the company. The winner was announced during the festive New Year’s reception of Productschap Tuinbouw (Horticulture Marketing Board) in Lisse.

“The prize is a great appreciation and the crowning glory of the efforts of all Enza Zaden employees. We are honored to win this prize. For our company it’s a boost to energetically continue to develop innovative products with added value,” says Jaap Mazereeuw. The prestigious prize has been presented for the 26th time by the Stichting Tuinbouw Ondernemersprijs (National Horticultural Entrepreneur Award Foundation) which aims to encourage enterprises and entrepreneurs in the Dutch horticultural sector. The jury especially appreciated Enza Zaden’s market-oriented spirit, its innovation and its human resources policy. The jury: “It evokes a lot of respect how this family concern – independent and with a great capacity for innovation – stands its ground and continues to develop in this world of multinational seed companies. By establishing Enza Academy the company continuously invests in developing the knowledge of employees.”

The jury evaluated the four nominees on innovation and development, which included prerequisites such as vision, strategy and the course that the company has determined for itself. Apart from that, the jury especially judged the nominees on qualities such as courage, perseverance and distinctive qualities.
