Enza Zaden New Zealand is based in Pukekohe, New Zealand. Our focus is on the development of new pumpkin and onion varieties.

What are you going to do?

As a senior breeder you will be responsible for the development of new pumpkin varieties. You will create and maintain a breeding program with a long-term vision and based on the latest market developments.
You will be working in an international team and you will have frequent contact with your global colleagues.

Your power

You are an enthusiastic entrepreneur with a long-term vision on plant breeding. You can connect with internal and external parties to determine latest market developments and to translate these to your breeding program. You are a natural leader. Furthermore, you have excellent analytical, communication and management skills. You are not afraid to make decisions and you function well in an international team.


  • MSc or PhD education level;
  • At least 5 years experience in breeding;
  • Able to translate scientific research into practice;
  • A strong possession of interpersonal, team leadership;
  • Able to work accurately;
  • Excellent computing skills;
  • Proficient in spoken and written English;
  • Willing to travel extensively;
  • Able to work legally in New Zealand.
